Georgeville (Lakevale Parish)
There are three books of vital statistics for St. George’s: baptisms and marriages ca. 1857-1889 and 1891-1913, baptisms, marriages, and burials 1914-1997. The oldest register is in very poor condition and the pages are disintegrating along the edges. I was unable to find baptisms for three of the children of John A. Gillis and Isabel McDonald Gillis: Catherine, Christie, and Dougald. There is a baptism for a "Catherine" at Georgeville on 8 August 1877. The entry was on the bottom on the page but the paper has disintegrated and there is no other information. There appears to be a gap in the records between 1889 and 1891, when Christie would have been baptised. I cannot account for the fact that Dougald is missing but there are no entries for March 1901. This could mean that the priest was away and he was baptised in another parish. |
