Gillis Family: I have located
quite a bit of census information on my GGrandparents & descendants in Nova Scotia. As
you can see from the census charts above, I have compiled the collection I have to date
from 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891 & 1901. In 1901 they began including birthdates, so that
was a great surprise! As you can see, even John Angus & Bella hold true to the
Scottish tradition and named the first girl & boy after his parents, and the next girl
& boy after her parents.
Just so our relatives know, the names above for Mary Jane is our Aunt Jennie, and Anne is
actually our Aunt Nancy. They lived together in Boston for years after Jennie's
husband died. Most of Isabella's and John Angus's children listed here did emigrate to
Boston, MA later.
