Based on 1870 Census sent by Susan Gardiner on 16 Aug '99, Mary Ann was 19
years old & born in MD. Assume it was Cumberland/Oldtown since that's where
they supposedly migrated from to Preston County, VA (now WV). Per Mary C.
Borgman, his first wife died along with 3 children from diptheria. John Gock
got a wet nurse for the baby they had, and then married the wet nurse. The
wet nurse had a small baby of her own at the time.
