Info is from the book entitled "History of Antigonish", Edited by Raymond
A. MacLean, Vol 1 on pg 45, and Vol 2, pg 26, note 7. In March 1825, in a
petition for a land grant, said he was one of the FIRST settlers at Arisaig,
that in 1825 said he had lived there 38 yrs, was married and had 8 children.
He stated that in 1812he had purchased land previously licensed to Hugh,
Lachlan & Dugald MacDougall, but these men had long gone to Cape Breton
& drew King's Land there for a second time. Ask for land grant at Big Marsh.

sponsors were listed as: John Witt & Lucy McDicker -BLO(p101) assume this
is John Garrett & Lucy Margaret (Deaker) Borgman. Due to them being fresh from
Germany I assume these are language barrier misspellings.
