                85.6.3 Convoy SM-1A (Per Martin Greaser, LST 996 was the 3rd Ship to hit the Beach)
8/15/44    Commenced unloading "DUWKS" from Tank Deck. Launched pontoons and detached
                C.B. Platoon 1040 and officers in the Pontoons for Yellow Beach at St. Tropez Gulf,
                France. LST 996 then beached and discharged cargo. Retracted from beach to rendezvous
                area and sailed again for Corsica Island
