Sunset Ceremony &
Reception |
Sunset & Lared Paula Greaser & Joseph E. Hayes III Married May 13th, 1994 at St. Peter's Church, Waldorf, MD Patty Cramer, Larine
Greaser (Maid of Honor), |
For those that don't know
us, Lared (Joe) & I actually met on-line at "The Doctor's Office", which was
a local Bulletin Board System (BBS) in the Washington, DC area. We met on-line in early
January 1993 and exchanged Emails, or we chatted on-line if we happened to be there at the
same time. It began as a friendship...the first time I even met Lared was when he came to
my house in March 1993 to install a new hard drive in my 286 PC. You see, he had uploaded
a picture in Email to me and when he asked how I liked it, I told him I didn't view it yet
because I didn't have enough room on my hard drive to download it.
Well, being the sweet guy that he is, he told me he had some sources for PC equipment and
he would check the prices out for me. After getting the prices and picking up the hard
drive, he then told me he could even install it....so, I believed him. Well, after
showing up and bringing a box with long stemmed roses in it, I became very worried, after
all, I was convinced I never wanted to marry!! And, now I was worried that he
possibly didn't know everything he said he did, and it was just a "ploy" to come
meet me.
He began taking apart my PC and seemed to know what he was doing, but when he turned it back on it wouldn't even boot up! After about 2 more hours of him struggling, he called the Tech Rep at Packard Bell and the next thing I know he was writing down addresses of where to take the PC for repair....my worst fears had come true!!
Lared felt horrible, he began piecing my PC back together and kept apologizing because he didn't know what went wrong. As he was attaching the case, he asked me if I had "moved the switch"...I said, "What Switch?"...he said the power switch one and showed me. Then he happened to notice that it slid to the other side when he moved the case over towards me. For some reason, the switch was on the 220 volt side. So, he made sure it was on the proper side, and then tried once again to boot up, this time with success!!!! Hahahaaa
So, to this day I tease him about "the switch"...which at the time wasn't so funny to him!!
We have been happily married for four years now, and as Joe says...we have 65 more to go! The song you hear playing was our Wedding Song for our first dance...I heard it for the first time when I was dating him, and one night on the PC I typed across the lines to him, "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?"...and, from that day forward it became our song...Rod Stewart does a wonderful job with it. You will see by the lyrics below why this song meant so much to Lared & I:

1 | Have I Told You Lately that I love you? Have I told you there's no one else above you? Fill my heart with gladness, take away all my sadness, Ease my troubles, that's what you do. |

For the morning sun in all it's glory, Meets the day with hope and comfort too, You fill my life with laughter, somehow you make it better, Ease my troubles, that's what you do. |
||
| 3 | There's a love less defined, And its yours and its mine, Like the sun.And at the end of the day, We should give thanks and pray, To The One, to The One. |
||
| 4 | Repeat verse 1 | ||
| 5 | Repeat verse 3 | ||
| 6 | Have I Told You Lately That I Love you? Have I told you there's no one else above you? Fill my heart with gladness, take away all my sadness, Ease my troubles, that's what you do. Take away all my sadness, fill my life with gladness, Ease my troubles, that's what you do. |
And that's exactly what my Lared did, he filled my heart with gladness, and took away all my sadness...I'm so lucky our paths crossed!!
